This video presenting a physical practice helps students learn to twist away their worries. Children often feel worry and anxiety in their bodies. Many young people who can’t describe in words what they are feeling can say they are experiencing stomach aches. Having a practice available that offers something to do with the worry can help children feel more in control of their emotions.
Cultivating a tool box with practices for self awareness and emotional regulation is important for all children and is a tenant of social emotional learning that positively impacts learning and family and school culture.
Tip: If you notice a child in your family is experiencing worries, pull up the video and follow along with the Washing Machine practice. Once the child learns it, ask them to teach it back to you!
