Holding Who I Am

Why: This activity is designed to encourage self reflection and acceptance, both tenets of social emotional learning. By encouraging students to identify their unique qualities, Holding Who I Am supports the creation of a safe container – be it home or school – that honors diversity and dignity and where all qualities of being human are seen and welcomed. It also affirms a solid sense of self while maintaining a connection to others.
Tip: Use this with your student if they are having a case of the “not good enoughs”. Go ahead and practice with them. Display your drawing for everyone in the family to see!
