Cool Kid Paper Chain
Who: All Ages
Why: This exercise encourages positive self-reflection and challenges students to take greater ownership over their positive qualities and to continue to be their best selves as they are part of a community at home or at school.
Recognizing ways each person can take care of themselves and each other is an important part of feeling safe, proud and ready to participate with others in your family or school. These qualities written on a paper chain can serve as a visual anchor for students to stay grounded and centered when dealing with the absence of a family member due to a military assignment.
Tip: Create this paper chain together before a parent deploys. It is still possible to do this if a parent is already deployed. With each phone call, they can add a new link in the chain!
