Q: What are you most proud of this year?
A: “I’m a nice person! People, uh, because I guess when… I’m just… look… I guess I have a mean look, but I’m actually a nice person. I like talking to people, I like when people come out and watch me play, and watch the team play, and I like when people cheer for me if I do good. And yeah, it’s just really fun and amazing. I like high school!”
Q: What is something that you wish adults realized about being a kid in today’s world?
A: “Kids don’t like to talk, and sometimes teachers they don’t understand the student, because a student could be smiling and having fun, but really they’re sad.”
Q: What stresses you out the most?
A: “As a student athlete—a multi-sport student—I play varsity football as a freshman, and I play up and down on basketball. So, I have a lot of stuff going on practice wise, and then I have a lot of stuff going on sports wise, because I’m trying to get a scholarship for my grades, and sports. So I have to keep a 3.5 GPA, and I’m doing good! I actually have a 3.8 right now, but it’s like, it’s a lot to handle… because I have 5 hour basketball practices from 3 to 8, then I got to go home. I don’t necessarily have to do stuff when I get home, because the dinners already cooked and all of that. “
Q: What’s going on in your world today?
A: “I do a lot. So sometimes I do need to stop, think, and breathe. And if I’m in a game—that’s important to stop, think, and breathe—so I can save my stamina. Some people surprisingly don’t know how to take deep breaths, and you know, let it all out.”
